5 years ago we organised our first Trek with Tej the owner at Nepal Alternative. That time we did the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Everything went smoothly and without a hiccup. This time we went back to Nepal for the Everest Base Camp Trek, and go in touch with Tej at Nepal Alternative. Tej planned absolutely everything and it all went as smoothly as the first trek. We were paired with the most amazing porter (Bijan) who ensured that we had the most memorable experience. Organising a trek takes some planning, and Tej was always happy to answer and questions, making recommendations and always on hand to answer any questions. This was our second trek with Nepal Alternative and I am more than happy to give them a 5 star recommendation.

Our second trek, with the same agency. On request we did get a new guide and unfortunately our porter from the first trek had to turn back home for private reasons, hence also our porter was new. This time, we did not need a long bus drive to start our trip. After 1 hours by private car we were dropped off near Sundarijal at the border of the Shivpuri Nagarjun National Park. From here the trek started towards Chisapani. The first part this trek follows the pipeline that supplies Kathmandu from water. I had a little concern that this first day would not be so nice for trekking, as just following a pipeline for a couple of hours did not sound as an attractive idea to me, but this was wrong. After all, the pipeline was not that unattractive and after a while it was gone (I can’t exactly remember how long we did follow this pipeline, but it was quicker gone than what I expected). Also the first bit of this trekking was a little hard, as you immediately go steep uphill. At the gate of the national park, we had to pay our entrée fee and to my surprise I saw some signs that indicated that plastic was prohibited in the park, so I had some good hope to no longer walk around surrounded with loads of plastic waste. Unfortunately this hope was quickly killed. Although, I have to say it became better as soon as we left more local villages behind us and the higher we went up to the mountains. Our arrival in Chisapani caused a shock. As soon as you leave the trees behind you from the national park you make a right turn and then a left turn: right in front of you there is an army post and just behind that post you see a couple of buildings that are completely destroyed, leaning heavily forward: here the drama of the 2015 earthquake is still very visible. According to the soldier at the gate, these buildings couldn’t yet be rebuild as they were build on the ground that belongs to the national park and hence they are still there as a reminder of the devasting effect of the 2015 earthquake. We did stay in Hotel Sunrise, which is just opposite of the destroyed buildings. We arrived a little early and did walk a little bit around the remainder of the village. That afternoon was the only occasion during the 3.5 weeks we stayed in Nepal where there was an electricity interruption. Luckily the issue was solved prior to dinner. The second day we continued our trip towards Kutumsang, where we stayed at the Namaste Hotel. On paper, the second day looked to be the easiest, but in reality it was not, as we had to cross multiple valleys. The first two days of this trek had been again very cloudy, luckily this did change the third day. Once above 2800 meters, we were above the clouds and we had splendid views on the mountains, whereas the valleys were filled up with clouds. The third day we also went into the Langtang National park, here again you have to pay a fee. On top of that you baggage will be checked for the presence of drones. Clearly the army doesn’t want you to bring drones to this area. The third night we stayed at the Sumchho Top Lodge in Tharepati (3600 m). If you want you can continue here going North towards Gosainkunda and the Langtang valley, but for this you need more time. Unfortunately, we did not have the time and had to return. The fourth day was a very long descent. In particular the first part was steep and we ended that one having a tea break in Melamchi Ghyang. From this point onwards, we did no longer follow our initially planned road towards Tarke Ghyang. Instead we did follow a very uncommon trek directly towards Timbu. This was a little adventure as this uncommon local road had suffered from a couple of landslides during the latest monsoon. After a very long day we reached our final destination just before dark. So, on our fifth and last day we did return to Kathmandu to pick up our remaining luggage. After that, we continued our holidays and left for Patan, to start our cultural week in the rest of the Kathmandu valley. In order to make our bus trip as comfortable as possible our porter made sure we had the best places on the bus. Overall the trip was very well organized and we had a lot of fun with our guide. He was also very knowledgeable and passionate. Both of us hope that one day he can realize his big dream and that he will show the Nepalese flag on top of the Mount Everest.

We were in Nepal in October - November this year. I found a contact with Nepal Alternative Treks & Expeditions through the internet - Tej wrote me a message about his agency and we started to cooperate. Tej was very helpful, he was sorting out whatever we asked for, starting from booking bus tickets, hotel rooms to arranging and booking a trip to Patan and Bhaktapur. He was always answering to all our questions by emails in regards to plan and arranging our trip. He organised very well trek for us to Mohare Danda - tour guide and porter were taking care of us and were dealing with all the queries. Because of him we will remember our journey as something incredible with lots of positive memories. We would definitely use his service again and we will recommend him to all our friends and family. He is very professional, honest, was always on time and is a very kind person. Thank you Tej

We had a wonderful experience visiting the most beautiful mountain on earth. we went as group of three from UK. We finished Trek in 12 days. Initially we had booked for EBC and Gokyo Ri but the day we did EBC, weather was bad for next two days which means we couldnt go through Cho La pass. We had less time so we didnt like the idea of waiting so instead we came down and spent extra days in Kathmandu and relaxed and did lots of shopping. It was amazing, both Kathmandu and EBC Trail. Nepal Alternative Trek: I dont have enough words fro Tej. He was amazing. He made this trip possible for us. The prices were excellent. We will go with Nepal Alternative Trek again and again for sure. I was ill the day I arrived in Kathmandu and i was worried that i will not be able to do it. Tej looked at me and said, you will do it, i can guarantee that. He said you are ill, in next few days, when you see the mountains, you will get energy and you will make it and thats what happened. Tej helped us throughout our planning. He was always available to answer our questions before we even booked with him. He helped us remotely with our shopping, what to buy, what not to, he compared prices for us so if there was better quality and better prices in UK, he suggested us to buy from here, things that were better priced and good quality in Kathmandu, he told us to buy from here. So he really did help us save lot of money too. When we arrived in Kathmandu, Tej accompanied us to the shops in Thamel and in 2 hours, we bought rest of our things and next morning we were on our way to Lukla. Guide: Kumar was our guide for the trip. He was an excellent guide. Very friendly and helpful. He did not rush us. He was very easy going. we took lot of time resting, taking pictures and he was absolutely supportive. He kept a close eye on us if any of us felt a little unwell or unusually slow, he got concerned about our well being and kept asking if we need anything. He does excellent high jumps as seen on his phone. I told him to do it but he said next time so i will hold him for that. Porters: I think porters are most important and our porters were excellent. Ramis was a little boy and he accompanied us on our rest days too. Both porters were very friendly and on our way back down to Lukla, they wanted to race us. But despite them carrying huge luggage, we couldnt even walk close to them, never mind racing them. They are super heroes. Overall: Nepal Alternative Trek was the company we chose after months of research and they met our Budget requiremnets Their prices are very reasonable and their service is excellent. I would most certainly recommend them to others and I am hoping to go again for Annapurna Circuit trek and with definitley do it with NAT and have Kumar as a guide and this time making sure that he does high jump.

If you cannot climb it, fly it... With Mr Tej and team of-course(^^, Very organised tour from our initial contact with him. Very efficient and the cheapest quote by far. Quality VS Quantity was no question here. We got great value and super awesome certificates. Thank you Mr Tej, it was a pleasure dealing with you. Namaste and thank you once again...

This was definitely one of the highlights of my first trip exploring Nepal. If you don’t have time for the hike, this is certainly and alternative! We got to experience ABC with breathtaking views over Pokhara and the Annapurna Range, definitely recommended!

We did the Annapurna Circuit trek with our porter/guide Bijan. Bijan was funny, motivating, knowledgeable and wonderful to have with us. He was so much more than a guide and really became a part of our Annapurna experience. Tej was terrific in planning and meeting with us prior to the trek too. I highly recommend this company!

Myself & a friend trekked the Manaslu Circuit. The experience was extraordinary - the trails were raw and varied and the scenery was truely spectacular. The trip was seamlessly organised by Tej (Nepal alternative Treks & expeditions) including a detailed itinerary, permits, accommodation, food and transport. Tej was helpful both before we arrived in Nepal, via email, as well as during our adventure. We were accompanied by a guide and porter on the walk, who were both very attentive throughout and most importantly great company. All in all, I would highly recommend both Nepal alternative treks and the Manaslu Ciruit trek itself, provided you are prepared for a tough walk and a few cold nights.

We chose the trekking route to Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda lake with the travelling days of 8 days (included 2 travelling days). The route was a bit tough to complete within 6 days as per our travel request to the company. Our trip started impressively with the warm welcome from Mr.Tej, the owner. On the starting the guide, Laxman came to pick us up at the hotel with the 3 porters. The price of our package is reasonable, but we traveled with the local bus, not the tourist bus. The guide, Laxman is very friendly, service-minded and helpful to our trips, also the 3 young porters (Brikram, Prabin and Santa are also helpful and friendly to all 7 of us 3 males and 4 females) Feeling is like we travelled with friends, not the serviced people, and we both treated each other like that. Even the route was tough with the different weather conditions and the geographical difficulties, but the guide always helped taking care all of us, we walked til the sun went down, our group was extremely exhausted, but the guide was never pushed us with any pressure, but he was there with us guided til we arrived the accommodation safely. And also the porters who always arrived accom before our arrival, but they unexpectedly walked back to pick our group and help guiding the way in those evenings, it's after their working hours and they should actually rest up for themselves, but they take full responsibilities on us. On the last day, there was a strike outraged in Kathmandu affected to our way back to the city, which one of our friends need to get back to the airport, since the bus stop services, we were afraid that we won't be able to go back on time, but with the assistance from Mr.Tej, he supported us to solve the problem with the extra service, so that we can get things on plan. We were so impressed with all the service this company provided, and most of the feeling is like we have new good friends. Highly recommended for the service and responsibilities from all the people related in this company. Thai travellers - TheWandererTH

My friend and I were lucky to find Tej online before visiting Nepal. We knew we wanted to do a trek, but we weren't sure exactly which trek. Tej sent us a bunch of itineraries for different treks and we chose the Manaslu circuit. When we arrived our guide, Kumar, was waiting for us at the airport and Tej was able to get us all our permits for the trek done in less than 2 hours which was great. The manaslu trek was absolutely amazing! We were super happy with our whole trip and we were lucky to be able to make the pass even though we saw dozens of other people who had to turn back because of the weather. We are already looking forward to going back next year at the same time to trek Everest and we will definitely use Tej again!

My wife and I went to Nepal last October to trek up to Everest View/Tengbouche with Nepal AT&E and it was the best decision we ever did. Our guide, Om, was one of the most loveliest guys ive ever met. He guided us on our eight day trek up into the Himalayas, becoming a friend of ours, helping us and was just a pleasure to be with at all hours of the day. His knowledge of the area and the people on the route was incredible. Apart from establishing a friendship with us, his service was second to none. He helped us get purified water, gave us advice, checked our blood oxygen everyday, organised us our meals with the hosts. He also dealt with all of the airfares to Lukla airport, getting us off the mountain on the first planes out in the morning. Organising this part was so good as unlike most westernised airports, the lukla/kathamandu airports do things their way and having a local do the talking is priceless. The actual hike was incredible. The weather in October for the trek was clear skies the entire way and we had many views of Everest on our way up to 3000ft. On return, Harka, the owner/operator, organised us further tours around Kathmandu and an excursion to Chitwan National Park, all which were amazing experiences with helpful, polite guides. Nothing will beat our experience on the mountains though.

Poonhill trekking was the first time trekking in ourlives. Many thanks this company to provide BEST service and BEST guide (his name is Nauser) to us. My mom just almost missed the top of Poonhill mountain because she was so exhausted, but our guide can take care and encourage her finally made to the top. Otherwise we couldnt have family photo group up there. And me also on the last day of trekking, my two legs got hurt from long day climbing down that made walked very slow. Our guide also helped carrying me. Our porters (Sumon and Modern) were also very nice and strong carrying our stuff. They sometimes be a camera mans for us as well hahaha. If you guys are looking for best service and trust worthy guide, I highly recommend Nepal alternatives trekking & Expledetion!

I got to know of Nepal AT&E from a fellow blogger who had mentioned about how good their guide was when he visited ABC. I went by his word and did not bother to do any personal research. He connected me to someone called Tej Gurung. Tej ji and I exchanged numerous emails and he made me feel extremely comfortable from Day 1. I was so comfortable that I did not even check out Nepal AT&E in the Internet to know any reviews. After we arrived at Kathmandu, Tejji introduced us to Amar, who would be our guide and be with us the next few days. Amar was extraordinary. The more I praise him the less it is. Right from the time we met, his main concern was our comfort. He went beyond his duty to accommodate our requirements. For e.g. , there was a miscommunication regarding the bags that Amar would carry and we had two bags instead of one. Amar left behind his own bag and carried ours to make sure we face no difficulties. Amar was like our lifeline, he was like my younger brother and always went the extra mile to make us comfortable. Trekking in the Himalayas isn't new to me and I have trekked several times in the India. I have met several guides and porters but Amar was completely different from everyone else I had met. He was extremely professional and never shied away from doing the best for us. Amar is extremely patient and always remained right behind us even during time when we were very slow. My good luck to Amar in whatever he does. I am very very satisfied with Nepal AT&E and I know all my future Nepal treks will happen with Nepal AT&E. Thank you Tej and Amar. I wish Nepal AT&E with loads of growth and success
