Annapurna Base Camp by way of Poon Hill – 10 day
I am 74. When my hiking partner found a trek to Annapurna Base Camp the idea grew and we planned a trip. It fell through when my friend needed a surgery, but the travel arrangements were made, and I was committed. Another friend had recently finished the Annapurna Circuit with Nepal Alternative Treks and suggested that I contact Tej. That essentially took the planning out of my hands and made it very easy. Any question was dealt with within hours, day or night.
For the trek, my guide, Dunn, and porter, Ambhar, were good humored and excellent companions from our first meeting. They set the pace. Dunn (who by the way, is an amazing 64) knew the routing step by step, and Ambhar was always there to pick up gear or give me gear as needed. Overnight in Deurali it snowed, but ABC was the goal. They rented crampons for me and we went. An unforgettable trek in so many ways.
Returning to Kathmandu with a few extra days, Tej was able to arrange an Everest flyby, and visits to local sites with his car, and driver, Krishna, on seemingly short notice. Thanks to Tej and company this has been a great experience.
