The trip starts in Kathmandu as you prepare to head to the Everest region. A short flight to Lukla marks the beginning of the trek as you head to Phakding. From here, you enter the Sagarmatha National Park en route to Namche Bazaar. Then, the trek heads north as you trek past Thame and Lumde to cross the Renjo La Pass (5360m). The descent from the pass takes you to Gokyo village, which sits just north of the Gokyo Lake. After exploring the village, you trek to Dzongla and ascend to the top of Cho La Pass (5420m).

The descent from this pass takes you in the company of Khumbu Glacier to reach Lobuche. Further, the trek heads to the Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep. The base camp offers a surreal view of the Khumbu Icefall and Glacier along with numerous mountains like Nuptse and Pumo Ri. Then, the trek heads to the next popular location in the region, Kalapatthar vantage point. From the viewpoint, you can relish the vista of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cholatse, and many other Himalayas. Finally, you head to the last pass of the trek to Kongma La Pass (5535m). Then, the trail takes you south to Chhukung, followed by a trek to Namche passing Tengboche on the way. Lastly, you follow the Dudh Koshi River and take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu.

Day 1

The trip begins at Kathmandu. On the day of departure to Lukla, you’ll wake up early and drive to the airport. You’ll catch a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The 35-min long flight will take you over the lush forested valleys of Eastern Nepal towards the Everest Region. Leaving Lukla, you’ll begin climbing along with the beautiful Sherpa settlements. The trail ascends upstream along the Dudh Koshi River towards Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.

Trek to Namche

Enjoy the scenic view of the Dudh Koshi Valley as you begin climbing along the lush forested path and few pristine waterfalls towards Monjo village. At Monjo, you’ll obtain the permit for Sagarmatha National Park and begin trekking through the natural national park. Few hours of the trek along the forested path and few suspension bridges bring you to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche.

Day 3

Acclimatize /Exploration day

You’ll spend the day acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar and exploring the beautiful Dudh Koshi Valley. Enjoy a scenic tour around the Bazaar area, witnessing the ethnic lifestyle of Sherpa people. You’ll take a short hike above Namche Bazaar and climb towards Khumjung village. Alternatively, you can also head to the Syangboche Airport towards the Khunde village. Explore the equally beautiful Edmund Hillary School before retracing your path back to Namche. Overnight in Namche.

Trek to Thame

Leaving Thame, you’ll begin climbing towards Thame village. The 9.7km long trail goes upstream along the Dudh Koshi River towards Theshyo Khola. Afterward, you’ll cross the bridge and begins climbing towards Thame. Thame is a traditional Sherpa village that is home to a few of the oldest monasteries in the region. You can spend the day exploring the beautiful mountains in the Everest and Cho Oyu ranges. Overnight in Thame.

Trek to Lumde

Leaving Thame, you’ll begin trekking west towards Lumde village. The trek today is moderately challenging as you leave Dudh Koshi valley and enter Bhote Koshi valley. The scenic trail goes past the quaint Sherpa villages of Taranga and Marulung. Once at Lumde, you’ll spend the rest of the time acclimatizing and preparing for the upcoming trek to Renjo La pass. Overnight in Lumde.

Trek to Gokyo Lake

Today, you’ll cross the might mountainous pass of Renjo La. The first of the three high passes lies in the westernmost part of the Everest Region. Leaving Lumde, you’ll begin climbing along the rocky moraines and take a steep trail towards the top of Renjo La Pass. From the top of the pass, you can catch the mesmerizing sight of Gokyo lakes and Ngozumpa Glacier. Few of the peaks, such as Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Cholatse (6335m), and Taboche (6367m), will also be visible. You’ll cross the pass and begin trekking downhill towards Gokyo village.

Trek to Thaknak

The day begins with a scenic tour around the beautiful glacial lake of Dudh Pokhari and Thonak Cho. From here, you’ll begin climbing north along the massive Ngozumpa Glacier towards Gokyo Ri (5480m.) . The local peak of Gokyo Ri offers the quick vantage to witness Mount Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m), Makalu (8481m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Pumo Ri (7165m), and Ama Dablam (6856m). You’ll begin climbing down towards the Camp where you can enjoy your lunch. From here, the trail continues northeast towards the village of Thaknak. Overnight in Thaknak.

Trek to Dzongla

Leaving Thaknak, you’ll begin ascending another high pass in the Everest Region, Cho La. The trail climbs along the snow and rock moraines. It is the most challenging pass to climb in the entire region where you may need to use crampons. From the top decorated with beautiful Buddhist prayer flags, you can catch the majestic sight of the Everest Valley. Leaving the pass, you’ll begin climbing down for almost two and a half hours towards Dzongla. Enjoy the beautiful sight of Cholatse peak as you cross the small ice basin en route to Dzongla . Overnight in Dzongla.

Trek to Gorakshep

Leaving Dzongla village, you’ll begin climbing east towards Lobuche village. The 3hr long trek takes you along the small Sherpa settlements towards the main Everest Base Camp trail. The trail continues to rise along the Lobuche Glacier overlooking the beautiful Lobuche Peak towards Lobuche village. You can enjoy your lunch in the village before proceeding with your trek towards Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.

Excursion to Everest Base Camp

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a day hike towards the Everest Base Camp. The scenic trail begins to climb along the Khumbu Glacier and takes a turn east at the junction. A few hours of the hike will bring you to Everest Base Camp. The iconic site marked with many small climbers tent is where the climbers rest before climbing the mighty Mount Everest (8848m). You can stroll around the base camp enjoying the pristine view of Khumbu Icefall and mountains like Pumo Ri (7165m), Lingtren (6749m), Khumbutse (6608m), and Nuptse (7861m). Retrace your path and begin climbing downhill towards Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.

Trek to Lobuche

The day begins early as you leave Gorakshep and begin climbing towards Kala Patthar. The local landmark of Kala Patthar lies few hours from Gorakshep from where you can enjoy the excellent view of Mount Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m), Lhotse (8516m), Khumbutse (6608m), Pumo Ri (7165m), Changtse (6335m), and Ama Dablam (6856m). After a brief rest at the top, you’ll retrace your path and head back to Gorakshep. Enjoy your breakfast, and then begin to climb down along the Khumbu Glacier towards Lobuche village. Overnight in Lobuche.

Trek to Chhukung

Leaving Lobuche village, you’ll begin climbing southeast along the Lobuche Glacier towards the third high pass of Kongma La. Kongma La at 5,535 meters is a difficult mountain pass comprising of slippery rocky trail. The climb begins with a steep ascent and continues gradually to the top. Once at the top, you can enjoy the mesmerizing view of the surrounding peaks of Ama Dablam (6856m), Thamserku (6608m), Island Peak (6189m), and Lhotse (8516m). From here, you’ll begin climbing down along the Buddhist prayer flags towards Chhukung village. Chhukung serves as the gateway to Island Peak. Overnight in Chhukung.

Trek to Tyangboche

Leaving Chhukung village, you’ll begin climbing down along the Chhukung Glacier towards Dingboche village. Catch the majestic sights of Chhukung Ri (5550m), Makalu (8481m), Island Peak (6189m), and Baruntse (7129m) among others. An hour-long trek along the yak pasture brings you to Dingboche village. The trail continues towards Pangboche village, where you can enjoy your lunch. Another hour-long hike past Imja Tse Khola and Debuche village brings you to Tyangboche. Overnight in Tyangboche.

Trek to Namche

The day begins with the tour to Tengboche Monastery. The 100 years old monastery is also the highest Buddhist monastery in the region. Explore the legacy of Tibetan Buddhism and meet the local monks. The monastery hosts the annual festival of Mani Rimdu every year during October. After breakfast, you’ll begin trekking downstream along the Dudh Koshi River towards Namche. The scenic trek goes past Kyangjuma village en route to Namche. Overnight in Namche.

Retrace to Lukla

The day marks the end of the trek. Leaving Namche Bazaar, you’ll begin retracing your path along the Dudh Koshi River towards Lukla. The scenic trek goes past few suspension bridges and forested ridges towards Monjo. After exiting Sagarmatha National Park, you’ll begin climbing down the stone steps towards Phakding. You can enjoy your lunch at Phakding before climbing down to Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.

Best time to visit

The ideal months to visit the Everest region are September, November, October, March, April, and May. Trekking in the Everest region during these months is highly advised. Similar to that, you may take in the beauty of nature if you come here at this time of year. At the same time, connect with nature. Additionally, a clear blue sky will allow you to travel here, giving you clear visibility. If you travel around this time of year, your trip will likely fall during one of the holiday seasons. As a result, it falls during the Dashain and Tihar holiday times. Then you will also get to experience and explore the beauty of Nepal and its culture. 

The difficulty of this trek

This trek is a 16-day long trek. So, if you are a new trekker then it is going to be very hard for you. However, if you decide to trek here then a local guide is very important. Similarly, the Everest region is a very high-altitude trekking region. So, if you are not careful enough then you might fall victim to altitude sickness. Altogether, this trek is very difficult so make sure that you are fully prepared for its challenge.

Travel insurance

Your travel insurance is one of the most important things that you should carry during your travel with us. If you don’t have your travel insurance with you then we are afraid that we cannot cooperate with you. In addition, to all that make sure that your travel adventure and trekking insurance above 4000m is covered. Similarly, make sure that your insurance policy covers all your hospital bills in case something bad happens to you during the trek.

Meals and Accommodation

We only provide meals and accommodation during the time of your trek. However, we don’t provide soft hard drinks, beers, and other alcoholic products. Because we understand that these things can hamper your tour. Instead, we provide you with healthy local and western food which can benefit you during your trek.

Sagarmatha National Park Fee: NPR. 3000 for foreigners and NPR 1500 for SAARC.

Pasang Lhamu Rural Municapility Entry Fee : NPR 2000

Fitness and Experience Requirements

The Everest three pass is one of the hardest trekking routes in Nepal. Even some of the most experienced trekkers find it hard sometimes to travel through these treks. So, you have to be very experienced for this trek. Similarly, you have to be physically fit for this trek. If you have some health issues, then it will be next to impossible for you to travel or complete this trek. Likewise, make sure that you do a full body checkup before heading toward the trek. This will be beneficial for you.

Climate and weather

You will find the perfect climate for the trek during the autumn and spring season. However, you will find perfect weather during the monsoon seasons as well. If you decide to do trekking here during this time of the year then you will be able to travel with clear visibility and you can enjoy your time here. You are going to travel to very high altitudes during the trek. So, making sure you do it at a perfect time can double your experience and have fun. Furthermore, if you travel here during this season then you will be able to travel in a clear sky.
