Firstly, you start the trip in Kathmandu with a long drive to Pokhara. Then, you take another short drive to Nayapul, which is the starting point on the trek. As you follow the Bhurungdi River, you will reach Ulleri. Then, the trail starts to gather more altitude as you head to Banthanti. Then, the route heads to Ghorepani after trekking through dense rhododendron forest. Ghorepani is a mixed Magar and Gurung village with a fantastic display of ethnic culture and hospitality.
Then, you hike to the Poon Hill viewpoint situated to the west of the village. The top of the vantage point offers grand views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges along with Gangapurna and Lamjung Himal. Further, you resume the trek and head to Tadapani village. Passing this Gurung village, you trek south to Ghandruk. This Gurung village is one of the biggest Gurung settlements in the country. Here, you can explore the rich Gurung culture and visit numerous heritage around the village premise. From here, the trail leads you to Nayapul, and you follow with a drive back to Pokhara.
