The journey starts with a six-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi. Syabrubensi is a popular spot among trekkers as it is the gateway to Langtang and Gosainkunda trek. The first day’s trek begins with a rewarding view of the mountain peaks in the Langtang Himalayan range and continues through the Golijung valley to Gatlang.

You walk through Thangbuche and Chilime village and stop at Tatopani, where you can enjoy the hot spring bath. Finally, the trail takes you through traditional Tamang villages of Brimdang, Nagthali, and Thumang to your final destination, Briddim, a Tibetan-style village near the Nepal-China border. Instead of returning to Syabrubensi, the trek can also be extended to Langtang valley or Gosainkunda from Briddim per your preference.

This is an easy to moderate trekking trail and doesn’t require any previous trekking experience. The highest altitude during this trek is about 3300 meters at Nagthali Hill. Spring (March-May) and autumn (Sep-Nov) are the most suitable seasons for Tamang Heritage trekking, but this trek is also accessible in winter. Accommodation is mostly in teahouse lodges with a comfortable bed and healthy local food, whereas you’ll enjoy a homestay in Briddim with warm hospitality.

Traveler Reviews

A wonderful & interesting trek overall. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances ( heavy snow fall & Lie ping with a bad cold) we were unable to cross the Ganja la pass. However, our guide Simbir offered us as alternative trek which took us on a difference journey of Nepal. We had the opportunity to visit & stay in many local villages and meet Tamang, Gurung people experience, their lifestyle and culture. We visited our guide’s home town of Chalishgaun and timed it right to join in with Diwali celebrations!
