Gurungs are a main race whose members have served with distinction in the Nepalese, British and Indian armies. Gurungs typically live high up on the hills where they raise maize, millet, and rice. Buffalo is the predominant form of cattle. The height of pastures can reach 12,500 feet. Gurungs practice Buddhism. They are typically short and stocky, with mongoloid features. Gurungs speak their own language, but the majority also speak Nepali. Many young individuals work in offices at lower altitudes.

The people of this region have a unique lifestyle their lifestyle havenot changed for almost thousands of years. The Royal Trek is undoubtedly ‘off the beaten path’. You can get closer to nature and the local culture on this trip because it is less crowded than other treks in the area. In general, paths and bridges are well-maintained by the locals who rely on them. Since the weather is erratic, warm clothing should be brought.

In addition to the cultural attractions and scenic mountain views previously mentioned, there are also possibilities of encountering wonderful flora and fauna.

For instance, in areas characterized by upper sub-alpine steppe, it is possible to observe uncommon animals like snow leopards and blue sheep. Other regions are home to protected avian species such as the multi-colored impeyan, kokla, and blood pheasant. Additionally, there is an abundance of butterflies and other insects. Furthermore, the area boasts of having 100 species of orchids and is home to the world’s largest rhododendron forest.
