Trek Difficulty

The Upper Dolpo Trek is one of the most challenging treks in Nepal. It won’t be easy to hike above 4000 meters for several days. Crossing the three mountain passes above 5000 meters is one of the most challenging prospects of this trek. The trek to Upper  Dolpo will present you with several challenges. Firstly, the Upper Dolpo Trek in Nepal is one of Nepal’s most time-consuming treks. Hiking for about a month is a challenging task. It would be best to be physically and mentally ready for this trek.

Altitude sickness is another primary concern during this trek. The oxygen level above 4000 meters is deficient, and hiking at higher altitudes causes the shortening of breath. There is a high chance that a trekker will suffer from altitude sickness. Acclimatization is necessary for trekkers to adapt their bodies to higher altitudes.  Hiking 6-8 hours daily for almost a month will make you feel monotonous. You might mentally get disturbed, so you must have strong willpower for this trek.

The weather in the  Himalayas can’t be predicted. It would help if you were prepared for any weather conditions. You should pack your items accordingly since most of your stay will be in a camp. The weather might disturb you even though you camp in a safer place. You may feel discomfort in camps, as it won’t give you the feel of your home or any hotel sleep. These factors might tire you and drain you mentally.

If you’re a first-time trekker, you won’t be familiar with the hiking conditions. The steep ascents and descents will trouble you and make completing this almost a month-long trek difficult.  Moreover, Your food options will be limited as you won’t be staying in a hotel where you can have a variety of foods. However, if you’re an experienced trekker, this Upper Dolpa trek may present you with several challenges, but it will give you a surreal trekking experience you will cherish forever.
