Kul Bahadur Gurung is a professional trekking guide from Dadagaun in Gangajamuna-06, Dhading, Bagmati Province, about 140 kilometers from Kathmandu. He was born and raised in this hilly village near Manaslu and Ganesh Himal, which drew him to trekking and outdoor life from a young age. After completing grade 8 at 16, he moved to Kathmandu for work. He is a friendly, fluent English-speaking guide who enjoys sharing Nepal’s nature and culture with trekkers.
Trekking Career
Kul started his trekking career as a porter in 2014. His first trek was a camping trek to Upper Dolpo. Working as a porter taught him about mountain life, culture, teamwork, and endurance. After five years, he began working as a guide-porter on selected routes in 2018 and became a full-time professional trekking guide in 2019.
Training & Certifications
He completed Trekking Guide Training with the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from 22 July to 5 August 2019. He has also completed English Language Training (3 months) and First Aid Training (2 weeks).
Trekking Regions
He has guided in the Everest Region, Annapurna Region, Manaslu and Tsum Valley, Langtang Region, Dolpo, and Upper Mustang. He also guides in destinations such as Ruby Valley, Tamang Heritage, and Helambu.
Favorite Trekking Routes
His favorite trails are in the Manaslu, Tsum Valley, and Ruby Valley areas. Growing up near Baseri, he knows the Manaslu routes well from exploring them since childhood.
