Amar Gurung, whose full name is Dil Krishna Gurung, is a senior trekking guide from Chalish village in the beautiful Rubi Valley of Dhading, Nepal. Born and raised in the Himalayan region, he developed a strong connection with mountain life, local culture, and trekking from an early age. After completing his SLC education at the age of 15, he moved to Kathmandu for higher studies and later completed a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Tribhuvan University Nepal.
Trekking Career
Amar started his trekking career as a porter in 2011 and became a professional trekking guide in 2012. With more than a decade of experience in Nepal’s trekking industry, he has guided travelers across many famous Himalayan trekking destinations while sharing the culture, landscapes, and traditions of Nepal.
Training & Certifications
He successfully completed the full Trekking Guide Training conducted by the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from August 25, 2013 to September 22, 2013. In addition, Amar has completed Basic Mountaineering Training, Two-Week First Aid Training, Environment Sustainable Tourism Practices Training, and Tourism-related Environmental Crime Prevention and Control Training.

Amar Gurung has experience guiding trekkers in the Everest Region, Annapurna Region, Langtang Region, Manaslu Region, Makalu Region, and Upper Mustang Region, along with many other trekking destinations in Nepal.
