Find the perfect adventure by comparing trekking, climbing, and tour packages side by side. Explore destinations, duration, difficulty, altitude, and pricing to choose the trip that best matches your interests, experience, and budget.
We are a Nepalese-owned company with tested itineraries, licensed local guides, and clear pricing with no hidden costs. We focus on small groups, safe logistics, and honest advice so you get a real Himalayan experience, not a rushed tour.
What services do you offer?
We arrange trekking, peak climbing, tours, hiking, transport, permits, guides, porters, hotel booking, and sightseeing in Nepal. We can also tailor trips to your time, fitness, and interests, from popular treks to offbeat routes and family-friendly holidays.
Are your guides trained and licensed?
Yes, all our trekking guides are government licensed and have years of field experience. They are trained in first aid, altitude awareness, and emergency response, and they know local culture and trails very well.
How safe is trekking with your company?
Your safety is our first priority on every trip. We plan acclimatization days, monitor health, carry basic first aid, and keep backup plans for bad weather or route issues. In any emergency, our team acts quickly and stays in close contact.
What is included and excluded in your packages?
Our trip pages clearly list what is included, such as permits, guide, porter, transport, accommodation, and most meals, as well as what is not included, such as international flights, personal gear, drinks, tips, and travel insurance. This way, you know all costs in advance. All of this information is available in the respective trip packages.
For example, for the Everest Base Camp Trek, you can refer to the What’s Included and What’s Not Included sections to see what is included and excluded in the trek package cost.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking, medical treatment, and emergency helicopter rescue. It should also cover trip delays or cancellations, as mountain weather and flights can change without notice.
How do booking and payments work?
To book with Nepal Alternative Treks, fill out a simple booking application form and pay a USD 100 deposit per person. The balance is paid in Kathmandu before your trip. You can pay safely by bank transfer or major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express) with no extra surcharge.
Likewise, if you prefer a tailor-made itinerary just for your party, you can book a private trip and customize dates, pace, accommodation, and activities from our private booking page. But if you are not sure which route or length suits you, you can use our Trip Planner to get personalized recommendations based on fitness, time, budget, and interests. Also, if you want lower costs and company on the trail, you can join a group departure. For this, visit the respective trek package page and click the “Join this trip” option to join scheduled group departures.
You may cancel anytime before departure and choose a refund or a credit, conditions apply. We refund 90% of the trip cost(after deducting 3% government tax) in case of cancellation for unfortunate circumstances. Or you can reuse the cost for an alternative trip at the same price, either immediately or in the following season of the same year. Last-minute cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable once services are booked or the trip has started. All cancellations must be submitted in writing.
Many Himalayan treks go above 3,000 m, so altitude needs respect. We design our itineraries with gradual height gain and rest days. Our guides watch your symptoms and will slow down, change the plan, or descend if you do not feel well.
What fitness level do I need?
Most treks in Nepal require a moderate fitness level. Thus, you should be comfortable walking several hours a day with a light daypack. Regular walking, hiking, or cardio (running, cycling, stair-climbing) in the weeks before your trip will make the trails more enjoyable. If you have specific health concerns or limited mobility, tell us, and we’ll recommend suitable routes and pacing.
Can you customize itineraries and private trips?
Yes. We tailor trips for solo travelers, couples, families, and private groups. You can change the trip length, route, side trips, accommodation standard, and pace to match your interests and time frame. For private trips, request a custom plan here: https://nepalalternativetreks.com/private-booking/
How do you support local communities and the environment?
We support local communities and the environment by working with local guides, porters, lodges, and suppliers to keep income in the villages. We also promote responsible trekking: no littering, respect for local culture, and the use of local resources. Our aim is to reduce our environmental impact and give back to the communities where we trek.
