Lobuche Peak Climbing Overview
We start our trek from Lukla slowly up towards the Dudh Kosi valley. We cross a Hillary suspension bridge and gradually climb up towards a big hill to get to Namche Bazaar. We continued the trek to Tengboche and Dingboche, then acclimatized for high altitude. We reach the world’s most popular trekking destination, Everest Base Camp, and then we retrace to Lobuche.
After a day of technical preparation and an orientation class at Lobuche, we head to base camp to attempt the peak. Depending on weather conditions, it may take another day or two to scale the peak. After one night at the High Camp, you will reach the summit (6,119m/20,192ft). For some people, reaching the summit from the base camp is a daily activity. However, most climbers prefer alpine-style camping at high camp, which adds to the joy of climbing and helps make for a safe ascent. After a successful climb, our trip returns to Lukla and ends after flying out from Lukla to Kathmandu in the morning.
The climb includes technical difficulties on quite steep (45 – 50 degrees) snow/ice slopes and requires fixed ropes. The views of Ama Dablam and Taweche are spectacular. Our return route passes through Tengboche, a magnificent location with a fascinating monastery, where we rest and savor the incredible scenery, including beautiful views of Everest, Ama Dablam (6856m), Kantega (6809m), Kwangde (6194m), Nuptse (7879m), and Lhotse (8511m).
