Tek Bahadur Gurung is a professional trekking guide from Chalish, a traditional Gurung village in the Rubi Valley of Dhading District, located around 135 km northwest of Kathmandu. Born and raised in the Himalayan region, he developed a strong connection with nature, local culture, and adventure tourism from an early age. After completing his SLC education, he continued his higher studies, completed high school, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
Tek Bahadur began his journey in Nepal’s trekking industry as a porter in 2018. Through dedication, hard work, and passion for mountain tourism, he became a professional trekking guide in 2021. Since then, he has guided trekkers from around the world across many of Nepal’s famous Himalayan trekking destinations.
He successfully completed the full Trekking Guide Training conducted by the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from August 25, 2024 to October 4, 2024, achieving Grade A. Tek Bahadur has also completed Basic Mountaineering Training, Two-Week First Aid Training, Environment Sustainable Tourism Practices Training, and Tourism-related Environmental Crime Prevention and Control Training.
Tek Bahadur has experience guiding in the Everest Region, Annapurna Region, Langtang Region, Manaslu Region, Makalu Region, Upper Mustang Region, and many other Himalayan destinations in Nepal.
According to Tek Bahadur, every trekking region in Nepal has its own unique beauty, culture, landscapes, and experiences. He enjoys guiding in different regions and seasons, as each journey offers a different connection with the mountains and nature.
Tek Bahadur speaks English and Hindi, allowing him to communicate comfortably with trekkers from different countries.
His goal is to provide safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable trekking experiences while sharing the natural beauty, culture, and traditions of Nepal with travelers from around the world. He always aims to make every journey meaningful, memorable, and filled with genuine Himalayan hospitality.
