To be honest, I’m not a hiker at all. When my girlfriend suggested a trekking vacation in Nepal, my first thought was, “You’re going to get me killed!” I had never done a trek in my life, and suddenly I was preparing to hike in the Himalayas. She chose the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley trek through Nepal Alternative Treks, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life.
From the moment we arrived in Nepal, everything was taken care of. We were met at the airport, picked up, and driven to our hotel. There we met Tej, the owner, and our guide, Tek. They welcomed us warmly, explained everything clearly, and made sure we knew exactly what to expect before our adventure began.
The next day, we were driven to the starting point of our trek, and over the following 17–18 days we experienced some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen. The mountains, valleys, forests, wildlife, and local culture were simply incredible. I was amazed by the views again and again.
As someone who had never trekked before, I can honestly say that if you’re reasonably fit and have the determination, you can do it. The pace can be adapted depending on how many kilometers you want to cover each day.
Tek was an outstanding guide. He was knowledgeable, patient, and always happy to explain the local culture, history, and surroundings. Together with our porter, Ambar, he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the journey. They were both professional, accommodating, and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with.
When we returned, Tej took the time to meet with us again for a debrief. He genuinely listened to our feedback and clearly cares about providing the best possible experience for his clients. Nepal Alternative Treks also arranged our transfer back to the airport, making the entire trip completely stress-free from start to finish.
What impressed me most was how much care and attention we received. The guide, porter, and owner all went above and beyond to make our trek enjoyable and comfortable. The service was excellent, the organization was seamless, and the price was very reasonable compared to other companies we considered.
I’m incredibly grateful that my girlfriend convinced me to take this trip. We came home with unforgettable memories and experiences that will stay with us forever.
