Ram Bahadur Gurung is a trekking guide cum porter from Chalish in Ruby Valley Rural Municipality–04, Dhading, Bagmati Province, about 165 kilometers from Kathmandu. He was born and raised in this remote mountain village near Ganesh Himal, which drew him to trekking from a young age. After completing his Secondary Education Examination (SEE), he moved to Kathmandu for higher secondary studies but could not continue due to family circumstances, and soon started his career in tourism. He is a friendly guide who speaks good English and enjoys sharing Nepal’s nature and culture with trekkers.
Trekking Career
Ram started his trekking career as a porter in 2021. His first trek was a teahouse trek on the Annapurna Circuit. He worked as a porter for four years, learning about mountain life, responsibility, and endurance on the trails. In 2024, he became a trekking guide cum porter on selected routes and received his professional guide cum porter license (License No. 20982).
Training & Certifications
He completed Trekking Guide Cum Porter Training with the Nepal Mountain Academy under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from 14 January to 17 February 2024. He has also completed English Language Classes (2 months) and First Aid Training (2 weeks).
Trekking Regions
He has guided in the Everest Region, Annapurna Region, Manaslu Region, Langtang Region, Makalu Region, and Upper Mustang, along with other trekking destinations across Nepal.
Favorite Trekking Routes
His favorite trails are in the Annapurna Region. He enjoys helping clients trek the Himalayas safely and comfortably.
