Ugal Tamang is a professional trekking guide from Kimtang, Nuwakot, a beautiful hilly village in central Nepal. Growing up surrounded by mountains and nature inspired his passion for trekking and outdoor adventures from an early age. After completing his SEE education, he moved to Kathmandu to continue his higher studies and build his career in Nepal’s tourism industry. He later completed his Higher Secondary Level education in Hotel Management from Namuna Machindra Campus, Lalitpur, which helped him develop strong hospitality and communication skills.
Trekking Career
Ugal began his trekking journey as a porter in 2016, starting with a camping trek in the northern Annapurna region. After gaining valuable mountain experience and working through multiple trekking seasons, he became a trekking guide in 2017 for selected routes and gradually developed into a full-time professional guide during 2018 and 2019. Following the COVID-19 period, he resumed guiding in 2022 and officially received his professional trekking guide license in 2023.
Training & Certifications
To strengthen his professional skills, Ugal successfully completed the full Trekking Guide Training conducted by the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation from January 20, 2023 to March 1, 2023. He has also completed Digital Tourism Promotion & AI Training and a Two-Week First Aid Training program, improving his guiding skills, safety knowledge, and communication abilities.
Trekking Regions
Ugal has experience guiding trekkers across many of Nepal’s most popular Himalayan destinations, including the Everest Region, Annapurna Region, Manaslu Region, Makalu Region, Langtang Region, and Upper Mustang Region, along with many other trekking destinations throughout Nepal.

Ugal Tamang can communicate fluently in Nepali, English, and Hindi, helping him connect comfortably with travelers from different countries and backgrounds.
